1.  Obligation Materials

a. The finalist concept design is a must made to a scale 1:2 or 1:3 or 1:1 model.

b. Polygon International Bike Design (PIBD) poster is full color, full page, sized A2 contain: designer identity, title of the design, product rendering

and operational with all necessary information.

c. Presentation material in Keynote/PowerPoint/etc must in English with 10 minutes duration before the judges

2. Model making

Every finalist will be given Rp. 1.000.000 (one million rupiah) from Polygon.

Overseas finalists will be given same amount which will be converted based on their origin country

3. Dateline for model and presentation material will be presented on 28^th January 2012. Judges from Design academic, profession association, product designer, media and marketing both from International and domestic.

4. Judging will decide 1^st, 2^nd and 3^rd winner will be announced at the last of the judging event and for the favorite winner will be announced  via internet from one month polling afterward.

5. All the transportation and accommodation for finalist (maximal 2 person in each group from Bandung and Jakarta) will be cover by Polygon at the judging day (27^th – 28^th January 2012).

6. The Final model copyright will be Polygon right and will be exhibit at the Polygon Bike Design which will be decide later.

1. Kit Bike (Fachril Fathiansyah)

Desain sepeda dengan analogi mainan bongkar pasang, mengajak pengguna untuk merangkai seluruh parts sebelum digunakan.

This design is based on the toy alike component parts which able to dismantle and put together after and prior using.

2. InfinIKE (Toh Yong Cheng)

Jenis sepeda listrik dengan teknologi lipatan baru yang diharapkan menjadi alat transportasi hemat energi masa depan

The bike’s design feature on new folding system which hopefully to be new transportation tool.

3. Air Purifier Bike (Jatmiko)

Selain sebagai kendaraan single yang strukturnya bisa menjadi tandem, sepeda ini dilengkapi dengan frame yang berfungsi sebagai penyaring udara (air purifier).

The concept is based on a single vehicle structure which also could be transform to tandem. The bicycle is also equipped with an air purifier.

4. Rotavelia (Fikri Satria Antoni)

Sepeda roda tiga yang memberi alternatif cara dan ketrampilan bersepeda yang baru.

Tricycles that provides alternative and new cycling skills.

5. Tripal (Colin Ong Lin & Darren Yeo)

Desain sepeda santai tanpa handle-bar di depan, untuk keunikan berkendara dan keleluasaan duduk pengguna.

This bike is designed without handlebar, for the flexibility of riding and   uniqueness for the rider.

6. Modifike (Takeo Fuwa & Yuhei Hirose)

Roda sepeda yang  mampu berubah bentuk dari bola ke piring menjadikan sepeda ini nyaman dikendarai di jalan raya maupun di tengah kemacetan.

Through transformable wheels from ball into disk, make this bike is suitable for riding on whether free or crowded roads.

7. Pymo (Algi Ramadhan)

Sepeda untuk komunitas fotografer, dengan handle-bar yang bisa digunakan sebagai tripod kamera, baik pada saat dikendarai maupun berhenti.

Bike for photographers community, with a handle-bar that can be used as a camera tripod, either at the time of driving or stopping.

8. Nanm (Denny Priyatna & Tunjung Larasati)

Melalui bentuk frame yang berfungsi sebagai keranjang tanaman, desain sepeda ini diperuntukkan bagi komunitas penggemar aktivitas berkebun.

This bike’s frame can be functioned as plant’s basket, for the gardening community.

9. Limitz (Putu Adi Wiratenaya)

Melalui analogi bentuk mobil balap, desain sepeda untuk 2 orang ini menginspirasikan ketrampilan berkendara dan kecepatan.

Through the analogy of a race car, this design is inspired by driving skills and speed for two people.

10. Friendshipbike (PebriLaksono & AriefWibowo)

Sepeda sebagai sarana untuk ‘nongkrong’, dengan strukturnya yang bisa digunakan sebagai meja ,tempat duduk dan dudukan payung.

Bike for the hang out tool, feature a structure that can be used as a table, seating and umbrella holder.

11. Magic Basket (IDR Team)

Suatu solusi desain sepeda lipat dengan keranjang, yang ketika dilipat seluruhnya akan menjadi box berukuran kecil (A2, tebal 13 cm).

A  folding bike design solutions with basket, which all can be fold to a small box (A2, 13 cm of thick).

12. Inspider (Hiroaki Yokoi)

Desain sepeda dengan dua fungsi, membawa barang bawaan  dan membelah diri menjadi dua sepeda.

Bicycle with two functions: first, is to carry on a large luggage and; secondly, is to be separated into two vehicles.

13. Stool Cycle (Antonius Dimas & Galih Rama)

Sepeda untuk area kampus, yang bisa berfungsi sebagai sarana duduk mahasiswa untuk berkumpul dan berdiskusi di luar kelas.

Bike for campus or university,  feature function for college students to sit together and discuss outside the classroom.

14. Pichacao (Chandra Irawan & Kumara Keke)

Struktur sepeda yang bisa ditinggi-rendahkan sehingga bisa digunakan sebagai kendaraan sekaligus tangga.

The bike’s structure can be adjustable as a vehicle or a ladder

15. Tripod Bike (Widya Mentari & Octarizka Reviandani)

Desain sepeda dengan frame yang bisa difungsikan sebagai tripod kamera.

This Bike’s frame designed  as a camera tripod.

16. Pogoce (Felicia Simon & Rizkhi Herviyansyah)

Desain sepeda lipat dengan komponen penyimpan listrik agar sesama komunitas pengguna bisa saling bertukar energi.

Folding bike design with an electric storage component which enable to exchange the electrical energy.

This theme has been selected to more stimulate our awareness that the bicycle is not simply a vehicle but also a mean of friendship and communication among individuals within groups or community. This competition seeks a design concept that will reflect communal values as well as eco-design values for being respective to the urban environment, providing uniqueness, intuitive ease and aesthetic appeal. Bicycles could be used as a medium to build cycling communities. It has been proven that through intensive conversation in the bike riding and gathering, each member of the cycling community could share their knowledge and awareness about the environment and health related to the bicycle.

As a first stage of the competition, the jury will review the entries and select 16 finalists. The top 16 finalists are asked to make the scale model of their ideas presented it in the exhibition and invited to present their entries to the jury.

Polygon Bike Design Competition will award three prizes: 1st place is 5,000 USD, 2nd prize is 3,000 USD and 3rd prize is 1,500 USD. Excluding the three winners, the favorite prize of 1,000 USD is selected afterwards by internet polls. A great number of creative people have participated in past years. All of the finalists’ design works have been published and gained so much public attention. Moreover, the design work selected as the first winner has been developed into prototype and exhibited in many design events. The champion design works have been getting more research specifically on its possibility to be mass produced by Polygon.
